AMERICAN DANCE TRAINING CAMP
-
DANCE CLASSES
ADTC is open to dancers of all levels, from first-time beginners to advanced performers... and everyone in-between. While our main focus is on jazz/funk and hip-hop, campers should come ready to experiment with additional dance styles while working on these core competencies.
No formal dance training or experience is required to attend ADTC – just a love of dance and a willingness to learn and have fun!
ADTC campers participate in three to four, one- to 1.5-hour dance classes each day. In addition to the core jazz/funk, hip-hop and ballet classes, the techniques taught during each session may include: gymnastics for dance, modern jazz, Fosse jazz, Latin jazz, theatre jazz, lyrical and/or other styles. The adjunct dance classes offered during each session will depend on the specialities of that week's staff. (Sorry – we cannot guarantee a certain adjunct dance style will be offered during any given week.)
Dance classes are broken down by both age and ability level. Class sizes are kept as small as possible to enable plenty of one-on-one interaction and attention.
Dance classes are held in the gymnasium, weight room and cafeteria. We set up wall-sized portable mirrors and pergot dance flooring in each dance room. Each room has ample space to accommodate up to 20 dancers per class (though ADTC class sizes are typically much smaller).
Campers also will have the opportunity to work on performance pieces with dance instructors during afternoon and evening free time.
Each week culminates with a Friday night all-camp performance that showcases each dancer’s progress. The Student Showcase is held in the Stratton Mountain School's brand new gymnasium.
