American School of Dance is open to dancers of all levels, grades K-12, from first-time beginners to advanced performers...and everyone in-between. Some ASD students take dance classes for the FUN of it. Others perform locally in their ASD community, while still others work their way up in the program to perform nationally, and participate in television appearances and the filming of DVDs. At ASD there is something for everyone because we believe everyone is "free to dance!"

While our main focus is on hip hop & jazz dance, ASD students should come ready to experiment with additional dance styles (like contemporary, lyrical, modern & basic ballet) while working on these core competencies.

No formal dance training or experience is required to attend ASD I, II or Teen classes - just a love of dance and a willingness to learn and have fun! Dancers can register for any class that is convenient for their schedule.

Weekly instruction includes a comprehensive warm-up, across-the-floor work and fun choreography that builds upon mastered skills and comes straight from the fabulous dance instructors at our ADTC summer dance camps. Additionally, each class learns one or two performance routines to perform at the end of their session and in their Annual Spring Show.

Students register for 8-10 week sessions at their school or local ASD facility (September – June), attending one, one-hour class each week. Registration is ongoing throughout the session (space permitting and tuition is prorated accordingly).

Dancers who are really succeeding and doing a good job in ASD I, II or Teen classes may be invited to join their local ASD Performance Company, "ASDCO." ASDCO dancers perform year-round at local school, corporate & charity events (American Heart Association, Heart Walks, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Dance Marathons, Parenting Magazine events, etc).

Dancers who are excelling in ASDCO may be invited to join our National Production Company - our highest level of students who travel nationally and internationally and do a lot of our TV work.

ASD After School (Beginners & Intermediate)

Length of Class: (1 hour); Ages: 5 - 10

Prerequisites: None

Class Description: Our After School classes help each student develop and appreciate her expressive potential through high-level dance instruction and a unique and memorable after school experience. Our dance program allows children to stay fit, build lasting friendships, and gain self-confidence, while our main goal is to further the development of each student as a dancer and a person.

ASD I & II (Beginners & Intermediate)

Length of Class: (1 hour); Ages: 5 - 10

Prerequisites: None

Class Description: Our funky dance moves are broken down into smaller, easy to learn segments. This makes the choreography easier to learn while keeping it fun. Students will learn six (6) routines per year. This class teaches teamwork, increases strength, coordination and agility. It also enhances leadership abilities. All this while your child develops his/her own funky sense of style.

ASD Teens (Beginners & Intermediate)

Length of Class: (1 hour); Ages: 11 - 18

Prerequisites: None

Class Description: This class is designed for our teens. It develops not only teamwork but increases strength, coordination and agility as well as increases stamina and promotes fitness. More importantly, it also gives our teens a strong sense of self and confidence.

ASDCO Performance Company

Length of Class: (1 hour); Ages: 8 +

Prerequisites: 1 year prior ASD I, II or Teens dance experience required

This class is by director's invitation only!

Class Description: Children who have reached an advanced level will be selected to participate in this class. In addition to their ASD classes, these children will be representatives of the ASD program. They will be role models in our community and as such will perform at local schools, charitable events and festivals.

ASDCO Production Company

Length of Class: (1 hour); Ages: 13 +

Prerequisites: 1 year prior ASDCO Performance Company experience required

This class is by director's invitation only!

Class Description: This world famous troupe of children perform in both local and national television in a variety of very high profile events. Performances are as varied as providing halftime entertainment at major sporting events to being on nationally televised events.
