Our Preschool Dance classes are a fun introduction to dance, open to 4-year-old boys and girls. The focus of Preschool Dance is to provide preschoolers with a nurturing environment for active self-expression through movement and exercise, while helping them develop the bodily self-awareness necessary not only to dance, but to any sport or athletic activity.
Each class includes interactive, rhythm- and dance-based games, basic dance movements to age-appropriate music, improvisation activities and simple stretching. Group dynamics are stressed while simultaneoulsly encouraging individual expression. ASD's energetic and patient instructors keep children engaged with lots of variety and quick transitions between activities.
To better enable participation for all lower- and mid-Fairfield County town residents, ASD holds its Preschool Creative Movement classes in a centrally located facility. During the 2004-05 year, our classes were held in Darien at the YWCA. We hope to continue offering Preschool Dance at this location, and also to add on additional locations.
